Our basement lights started flickering nonstop right after we finished setting up the new washer and dryer. At first I thought maybe the machines were too powerful, but then half the sockets upstairs went dead, and it freaked me out. I tried resetting the breakers, but it didn’t fix anything. We just moved to Hope from Abbotsford last year, so I didn’t have a go-to electrician yet. A buddy told me to avoid guessing because if you hire the wrong person, you might end up paying twice—once for a bad job and then again to fix it. It’s nerve-wracking when you’ve got kids doing homework by flashlight and you’re sitting there wondering who in town can be trusted to show up and actually solve the issue.

It’s funny how things usually seem solid until they suddenly fail all at once. One moment everything feels normal and dependable, then a small spark or flicker reminds you that nothing lasts forever without care. It’s that sudden shift from calm to chaos that always sticks with me.
